ANNOUNCEMENTS - (August 24 - 31)
Our 2-Worship Service schedule will resume NEXT WEEK, August 31. Worship will
be at 8:30 and 11:00 and Sunday School remains at 10:00.
With the return of the VMI cadets, there are needs and opportunities for
ministry! Please indicate on the Attendance Pad if you would like to: 1) help
pick them up for Church, 2) like to “adopt” one or two cadets on Sundays for the
year or 3) occasionally help provide part of the dinner for the Wednesday Navs
Bible Study. Thank you!
There will be NO High School DSF on August 31.
The Middle School DSF will meet at the home of the Flippens this Wed., Aug. 27,
7-8 p.m.
The Elders will be meeting this Tuesday evening at 7:30 at the church. Please
contact Paul or Sam before then if there is anything you would like to bring to
them.
Due to scheduling conflicts there will not be a Small Group Picnic on Sept. 21.
Please be sure to note the insert in the bulletin today for your opportunity to
be a part of a group!
There are several other inserts to note today and respond to:
Missions Weekend – September 13 & 14
Women’s Bible Study – Begins September 9. Registrations due
by Sunday, Sept. 7
Grace Dinner Groups – a neat opportunity for great food and
fellowship!
“Caring for People God's Way" is a new small group study being offered this
coming school year. Led by Tony Nix, this is a 30-week training in Biblical
Counseling for lay people. Participants have one of two options: 1) Purchase the
lecture outlines and test set for $165 and earn a Certificate in Biblical
Counseling at the successful completion of the course (passing 5 open-book tests
during the program), or 2) Audit the study by simply attending the DVD and
discussion sessions each week at no cost. We will meet weekly for 30 weeks, one
and a half hours a week. This course is helpful to anyone finding himself
offering advice to others as well as to those in need of Biblical Counseling
himself. Talk to Tony for more details if you are interested.
Save the Date: Church-Wide Picnic to welcome back all W&L undergrad and law
students and
VMI cadets will be Sunday, September 21, immediately following the 11:00 Worship
Service
at the home of Roger and Kay Dean.
From Tony: Starting on Thursday, Sept. 4, Tony will be at the Hunter Hill
Subway, sipping a soda most Thursday afternoons from 3:15-5:00 p.m. He’ll buy
you a soda if you want to come by and sip with him for a bit.
We thank those serving in the Nursery this morning: Sunday School – Carol
Johnson, Jane Hoadley. 11:00 – Laura Pearson, Elizabeth Schwartz, Anne, Elise &
Sally Hansen. Next Sunday will be: Sunday School – Carrie Talley, Jane Hoadley.
